Flora

Flora connects plant owners with professional plant sitters who provide expert care, including watering, maintenance, and plant health diagnostics, as well as outdoor landscape.

We transformed the concept of plant sitting into a platform that connects plant lovers with the care they need. This was achieved through strategic design and many iterative processes, including researching, interviews, identifying pain points, and developing user flows, branding, and visual design.

Concepts & Ideation

It all started from a thought- yes, the seed!

Every thriving plant begins as a tiny seed, full of potential and the promise of growth. The idea for Flora was planted in much the same way. In a world where greenery brings life, peace, and beauty into our homes, we recognized a growing need among plant lovers. People cherish their plants, not just as decorations, but as living companions that enhance their environment—cleaning the air, boosting mental well-being, and connecting them to nature.

Research & Discovery

Interviews & competitive audit

As the seed of Flora began to sprout, we turned to the plant-loving community to understand their needs. Through conversations with plant owners, we uncovered a shared concern: finding reliable care for their plants when they’re away.

These insights revealed pain points like difficulty finding trustworthy sitters and communicating care instructions. From this, Flora began to sprout, taking shape as the solution to these challenges and more, guided by the real experiences of its future users.

I’d like to have some instructions about how I can best take care for my friend’s plants.

Trustworthiness is the most important thing to me, since they are coming into my house.

Synthesis, User Journey & Flows

Cultivating Clarity- From insights to Actions

With the research and competitive analysis in hand, we synthesized our findings, identifying key insights that would shape two critical user journeys:

Design Thoughtfully

Bringing the visions to life

With a clear user journey and flow in place, Flora began to grow: we started by creating wireframes and low-fidelity prototypes that laid out the basic structure and functionality.

This phase involved multiple iterations, where user testing and feedback were integral to refining the design.

Color Palette Inspired by Zen Gardens

Inspired by a Japanese zen gardens, this palette features elements of stones and sand. Since our platform will be rich with plant colors, this could serve as the “soil” that holds everything together.

Elements for Rating & Reviews

Jenny H.

May 15, 2024

Amanda was very attentive with my plants! Will like to book her again in the future :)

We aimed to stay true to Flora's theme by incorporating flower elements into our rating system, replacing the traditional stars. The color yellow was chosen to ensure the system feels intuitive as a rating scale.

Valentine Special

In February, the rating system is replaced with roses to bring a romantic and festive touch to the platform, adding a little bit of fun to it.

I love that how easy it was to find someone so quickly. It makes me feel very reassured.

Floral Theme

Once the user finishes scanning all their plants, a celebratory animation will appear, featuring a burst of flowers for an immersive experience that enhances the feeling of accomplishment.

Design System

Establishing Consistency

We developed a cohesive design system that harmonized the platform's visual identity with its user experience, ensuring consistency, scalability, and ease of implementation across all touch points.
